Must 18 or over with a US address to enter. I share a lot about the healing and growth I’ve done but I also don’t want to forget the journey that brought me here. The last year and a half has been a true rollercoaster. So many ups and so many downs. As time goes on, the dark days become less but they still exist. There are still days that just getting out of bed is the best I can do. There are still days that memories haunt me. But without these moments of darkness I wouldn’t know the light. I wouldn’t know what HOPE truly means. I wouldn’t know STRENGTH. And I wouldn’t be able to tell you that it might not feel like it today, tomorrow, or next week but it will get better. Sometimes I get so caught up in everything I want to get done that I forget to simply take time to breathe. Slowing down this week to embrace the small moments. What’s something you want to remind yourself of this week? February 👋🏼 I’m looking forward to more cozy sunsets in this favorite blanket, longer days, and a month that really embraces celebrating love! What are you looking forward to this month? When I was 8 years old we lived in Germany for a short time. My dad was stationed in Heidelberg and to say that the adjustment to living overseas was hard would be an understatement. Even as a kid, I had wild anxiety. This became most apparent when we would drive around this unfamiliar country and I suddenly developed this habit of making myself go to sleep. After some incidents of getting lost, I had decided that skipping the part where we would possibly get lost was easier. It was better. This coping mechanism of “skipping the unknown” stayed with me well into adulthood and really up until the last year or so. With so much help I’m learning that it’s more comfortable to skip the unknown, to skip getting lost- but in doing that we also risk missing so much beauty. Sometimes it takes getting lost to find our way back to the things we value. The things that we forgot along the way. The things that we sometimes never knew we needed. I had big plans for this month and to be honest I didn’t get to even half of it. There’s the book I wanted to read and didn’t even start. The writing that I just couldn’t sit still long enough to do. The closet cleanout that just didn’t happen. But yet there’s so much I DID do. The new job I went after and got. The real life connections I made. And just the feeling of finally getting settled back in. When we set goals for ourselves, it’s easy to see the things we wanted to do but didn’t get to. It’s easy to keep expecting more of ourselves. The challenge is recognizing all the amazing things we HAVE done and celebrating that. I’ve made it a mission to practice more grace with myself and part of that means celebrating things I did, knowing it’s okay that I didn’t get to everything. Let’s celebrate ALL the victories because you know what, we’re all doing great and we’re all worth it! Every week I try to pick a ‘Word of the Week’. It helps me to look at the week before and reflect on things I can work on then put action to it. ▸ This week my word is : 𝙿𝙴𝙰𝙲𝙴. Last week felt a little off for me. My anxiety was higher than it’s been in a while, which left me feeling a kind of overwhelmed. So this week, I want to focus on slowing down and taking time to create peace in myself and the space around me. Meditating and journaling always help me to release some of the anxious energy so I’m going to work on using those tools to create peace this week. ▸ Have you ever used a ‘word of the week’? Probably gonna eat some vegan pizza 🍕 ▸ What are y’alls plans for the weekend? In the last year, I’ve really worked to free myself of expectations. Unrealistic expectations of myself, expectations of others, and expectations that things should always go a certain way. I can’t even begin to explain how freeing this has been. And while I still always have work to do- it’s allowed me more space to love myself, love others, and love the unexpectedness that life can bring. ▸ What’s something you’ve worked/are working to free yourself from?
